En la reciente entrega de los Critics Choice Movie Awards (¿alguien ha oído hablar de eso?) trasmitidos por la cadena VH1 se presentó Death Cab For Cutie haciendo un homenaje al desaparecido John Hughes. La banda realizó un cover de la que es probablemente, la canción más icónica de las películas para adolescentes de los 80's: Don't You Forget About Me interpretada originalmente por Simple Minds y que forma parte de la famosísima Breakfast Club.
Nick Hammer comenta al respecto:
“We are truly proud to help pay tribute to the late John Hughes. His films were important waypoints for us to use as we navigated the uncertain waters of growing up and even now still give us so much perspective, insight and laughter about those uncomfortable years. We honor him and will continue to celebrate him with our music and through his films for years to come.”
